Marsh Court Farm

We were approached by a client who wanted to convert their redundant agricultural building to a residential dwelling. Such a conversion is possible, subject to conditions and restrictions, under Class Q of the General Permitted Development Order.

We prepared and submitted a Prior Approval application for the conversion of the redundant agricultural building to be converted to 3 dwellings, this was accepted by the Council. We then decided to explore the potential to demolish the existing building and replace it with new dwellings to enable a higher-quality design opposed to a conversion.

As the site is adjacent to several Listed Buildings, the new dwellings had to be sensitively located and designed. Through engagement and several discussions with Test Valley Borough Council, the demolition of the redundant agricultural building and its replacement with two semi-detached dwellings and one detached dwelling was accepted.
