Project - Replacement Vehicular Access
- Located within the countryside
- Hedgerow removal and re-enforcement
- Improved sightlines

The existing vehicular access into the agricultural field was dangerous. Adjacent to the vehicular access was a public footpath which was retained and improved. The proposal sought the relocation of the access to a safer position and the
removal of part of a mature hedgerow to provide required sightlines. Hedgerow was re-enforced with planting to match existing.
Key Issues
- Highway safety
- Retention of public footpath
- Impact on ecology
- Design
The Solution
Following consultation with a highway and ecological consultant, a suitable solution to the existing problem was proposed and carefully designed to have minimal ecological impact. The solution would improve the overall efficiency and agricultural production of the field allowing the farmer to safely egress and ingress the site.
The technical drawings illustrated that the proposal was a safer solution and could be achieved with minimal disruption to the existing hedgerow and local highway network.
A farm gate, typical of its genre was proposed at the replacement vehicular access point. The existing access to the public footpath through a kissing gate was re-enforced to improve the area for potential users.
